Nine people have been injured and one elderly woman killed in an overnight Ukrainian drone attack, Russian authorities have said this morning.
Several buildings were damaged and caught fire in the the Russian border region of Kursk, where fighting has been intense since Ukraine launched a stunning incursion there last summer.
Russia’s defence ministry said 109 drones were shot down over the region, but wouldn’t say how many were flown.
The Kursk region administration said in a post on messaging app Telegram: “Kursk has been subjected to a massive enemy attack overnight.”
It added: “Unfortunately, an 85-year-old woman died.”
Drones also stuck an ambulance garage, damaging 11 cars, it said.
Officials said three people were killed in the region on Monday in another drone attack.
These reports have not been independently verified and Ukraine has not yet commented.
Civilians have been killed over the course of the war, the majority Ukrainian.
