If you missed it, Kev is referring to the moment that Peter Navarro, Donald Trump’s trade adviser, gave Mark Stone some particularly frosty responses to his questions this week…
“He didn’t like my questions the other day, partly because he didn’t like my camera, and he felt it was in his face,” he says.
“But also, frankly, it’s because he didn’t have an answer to the questions.”
Here’s the moment Stone was told by Donald Trump’s trade adviser to “stop that crap” this week…
Speaking more broadly about the way the Trump team handles the media compared to the Joe Biden administration, Stone says it’s a “fact” that Trump’s administration is more open.
“Under this new administration, they are out there an awful lot,” he says. “Don’t get confused between accessibility and transparency, though. They don’t necessarily answer the questions.”
On Jack’s question over whether there’s concern of being banned from the press pool for asking risky questions, Stone says: “We do worry that we could end up being excluded from stuff if they deem our questions to be inappropriate.”
He adds this never happened under Biden: “Never once did I feel my questions would lead me to be excluded. Now, I kind of wonder…”
James Matthews adds: “We’re at a very consequential time in history and I think when we’re done and dusted with our careers, you don’t want to look back at this time, at this president, and be asked what question you asked Donald Trump.
“You don’t want your answer to be: ‘I asked him what colour of Tesla he preferred.'”
